Architect One knows that a building can tell a story but only if your architect listens. When we began working with Architect One they had just completed a move downtown Topeka and were experiencing renaissance attributed to their new space and the addition of two younger principals. The firm was looking to increase their market share in Topeka and expand their footprint throughout Northeast Kansas.

02 The Work

Branding
Embarrassingly Simple. That’s how we described AO’s new logo as it first emerged from the artboards. The mark is inspired by elements we found while studying the firm’s designs. Our intent was to create a brand that made a statement and allowed the work to shine through. AO’s brand is evidence that branding is not the mark alone. It is the feeling evoked through the complete application of the branding.

Photography
Photography is the center of gravity for all of Architect One’s marketing efforts. Their beautiful designs make an excellent muse for our photographer’s lens. The size of the subjects creates unique challenges and opportunities.

Architect One’s website is designed to showcase their finished projects and reflect the unique personality of the firm.

Collateral Materials

AO’s collateral materials and stationery suite create a high-end feel with every interaction. We utilized a variety of finishes and paper to mimic the mix of building materials used in Architect One’s designs.

Video
When Architect One was presented with the opportunity to make a pitch in front of a community for the opportunity to win a project they wanted to make a big impact in a short amount of time. Competing firms were given five minutes to introduce themselves and make their case. Architect One used video to make their introduction and won the project!

Listen. Design. Inspire.

Architect One’s process is divided into seven detailed steps. It’s an excellent resource for clients, but overwhelming for new prospects. To begin introducing AO and their process, we developed a simple line that told a big story. ‘Listen’ is intentionally placed at the beginning of the line because it is a point of pride and distinction for the firm. In an industry known for big personalities and bigger opinions, Architect One takes pride in their ability to listen to a client and create a design which turns their thoughts into a solution that is functional, but inspiring.

You Know Us By Our Work

We left AO’s original tagline intact but drew great inspiration from it. The line tells of the firm’s desire to have their work speak for itself. In designing their new brand, we wanted the same thing; a simple brand that complemented their work but allowed that work to speak for itself.

04 The Results

Since rebranding, the principals at Architect One report a renewed energy and sense of pride in their office. That energy has translated into the successful opening of a Manhattan, Kansas office and a soon-to-be-opened Kansas City office.

In the words of Architect One President, Scott Gales, “Every day I have someone say to me, ‘I see your brand everywhere!’ It’s not that we weren’t in a lot of places before, we just don’t fly under the radar anymore. Our brand stands out.”
